Are You Still Drinking the Kool-Aid?

How often have you heard this?

“I know it’s true because that’s what my parents taught me. It’s what people have known for ages so it must be true. And if it wasn’t true, why would our teachers and leaders keep giving us the same message? Also, it just seems to make intuitive sense.”

People have said this for thousands of years, whether it be about the burning bush, the Earth being flat, that Whites are superior, why women are inferior or that saturated fat causes heart disease. The best amongst us will always open themselves up for re-evaluation and learning new and potentially contradictory beliefs.

When it comes to nutrition, there are few scientific fields that are evolving as rapidly. The human body isn’t changing but our understanding of it is. Keep your eyes, ears and mind open to new thinking and be brave enough to drop what you previously held true.
