Feeling Dirty

Despite eating clean pretty much all the time, I do still love going off piste and eating a load of crap. This is usually accompanied by a side order of guilt and remorse, but I’m a fairly pragmatic fellow and usually feel the temporary pleasure was all worth it. Sometimes however I do like to eat clean, but make it dirty!

Eating “clean” suggests you can’t indulge. You can enjoy the food, but you can’t have it to excess and can’t relish just enjoying it for the sake of gluttony. But occasionally you find some foods that you can occasionally indulge in and have as a pleasurable snack.

Today I was hungry and needed a calorific but healthy snack, so out came the almond butter………and a dessert spoon. I just sat there, with the dregs of a 1kg tub in one hand and the spoon in the other, looking like a depressed American eating ice cream, but I was loving it. Eating out of the container feels so wrong, especially when the container looks like a big pot of pollyfilla and I’m scraping the dried bits off the sides. Dirtying up a snack somehow makes it better, however healthy it might be.

I’d love to hear your suggestions of dirty clean foods that we can all enjoy without the required guilt.
